BEIJING-A chronology of major earthquakes measuring at or above 5 on the Richter scale in China since 2003.
2008:
April 24 -- A 6.1-magnitude earthquake off eastern Taiwan, China.
March 30 -- A 5-magnitude earthquake in the Yugur Autonomous County of Sunan in northwestern Gansu Province.
March 21 -- A 7.3-magnitude earthquake in Hotan Prefecture of northwestern Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.
March 21 -- A 5-magnitude earthquake in Yingjiang County of southwestern Yunnan Province.
Jan. 9 -- A 6.9-magnitude earthquake in Gerze County in Ngari Prefecture of Tibet Autonomous Region.
2007:
July 23 -- A 5.5-magnitude earthquake at sea east off the coast of Hualien in Taiwan.
July 20 -- A 5.7-magnitude earthquake in Tekes county of Kazak Autonomous Prefecture of Ili in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.
May 5 -- A 6.1-magnitude earthquake on the border of Rutog and Gerze counties in Ngari Prefecture of Tibet Autonomous Region.
Feb. 3 -- A 5.5-magnitude earthquake in the Mongolian-Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Haixi in northwestern Qinghai Province.
Jan. 25 -- A 5.5-magnitude earthquake at sea off the east coast of Taiwan.
2005:
Nov. 26 -- A 5.7-magnitude earthquake in Jiujiang city in eastern Jiangxi Province, with several aftershocks.
2004:
Aug. 10 -- A 5.6-magnitude quake hit Ludian County in Zhaotong city of Yunnan Province.
2003:
Dec. 1 -- A 6.1-magnitude quake in Zhaosu County in Kazak Autonomous Prefecture of Ili of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.
Nov. 15 -- A 5.1-magnitude earthquake in Ludian County in Yunnan Province.
July 21 -- A 6.2-magnitude earthquake in Dayao County in Yi Autonomous Prefecture of Chuxiong of Yunnan Province.
June 9 -- A 5.8-magnitude quake somewhere between Yilan and Su'ao in Taiwan.
